High On Fire

The Sanctioned Annihilation tour was a blast. Bills like this one are why I love going to metal shows. Each band had something unique to offer and had great energy. Kylesa had some really cool lighting effects involving album art from their forthcoming album Spiral Shadow. Torche played decimating riffs and had contagious smiles. Needless to say, High On Fire were exceptional and played a crushing set which ended with new fan favorite "Snakes For the Divine." I can't believe that album's been out for 7 months already.

MELVINS

At one point, Jello Biafra appeared out of nowhere.
This was my first time seeing the mighty Melvins. Their set focused on material from their last three albums, as well as a cover of "Pressed Rat and Warthog" by Cream, and "Happy Birthday to... Someone."
I love Buzz's Electrical Guitar Co. Guitar. Sleek and simple. His guitar and Aaron Turner's first model were what attracted me to those guitars in the first place.
