MELVINS

At one point, Jello Biafra appeared out of nowhere.

This was my first time seeing the mighty Melvins. Their set focused on material from their last three albums, as well as a cover of "Pressed Rat and Warthog" by Cream, and "Happy Birthday to... Someone."

I love Buzz's Electrical Guitar Co. Guitar. Sleek and simple. His guitar and Aaron Turner's first model were what attracted me to those guitars in the first place.

SLEEP

Legendary stoner doom band Sleep played to pack crowds over two nights at the Grand Ballroom in San Francisco. Jason Roeder from Neurosis filled in for Chris Haikus on drums. Josh Graham of Neurosis contributed visuals. Al Cisneros on bass, Matt Pike on guitar.

By the way how have I seen four members of Neurosis in four separate bands but still have yet to see Neurosis play?

Local favorites Black Cobra set the tone for a monumental night opening for Sleep.
