Crowbar

Watching Crowbar was like being beat with, well, a crowbar. They were extremely heavy, specializing in the lowwww tones. I was into them, but I couldn't fully enjoy them because I was really anticipating St. Vitus.

Kylesa

This was my third time seeing Kylesa and it's always a pleasure. They were extremely focused, loud and heavy. This set utilized more extensive use of keyboards, and Philip Cope even played the theremin.

Red Fang

Rockin' sludge band Red Fang had the pleasure of Wino joining them on vocals for one cover song.

Howl

This was my second time seeing Howl. I forgot they were on this bill so I was pleasantly surprised to see them. They sounded huge and definitely were in top form. I'm really happy these guys are so well-received and are getting on such good tours.

The Atlas Moth

The Atlas Moth exemplify the healthy heavy music scene in Chicago. They played a very short set at The Mezzanine in San Francisco, but they left a big impression. I can easily say that they didn't sound like anyone else on this bill. They have a new record coming out in September, but keep an eye out for them before then. I'm definitely looking forward to catching them again and seeing them play later, and longer.
